n 2012, when I was preparing the exhibition “5+1″, I felt the need to work again on some drafts that I had made after I sold my first Meninas. My clients and I liked them so much! So I started working on some new ones. These Meninas had grown up a bit. Because I had grown up myself. They also grew in size. They measure between 18 and 20 cm. h. (without their boxes, the boxes measure between 20 and 30 cm. h.). And so, it is easy to tell them apart form the first ones, in spite of their similarities. In the Meninas II, I added more elements to the figures and started combining wire, glass beads, coral and shells plus other found objects and materials, to add special touches and meanings. They were all made in 2012, except for Kam, born in 2013. They are all made of stoneware fired at 1200 C and colored with wood stains and golden metal leaf. The boxes can be hung from the wall or set atop a piece of furniture. Like the Meninas I series, they are all unique pieces.
