hanks to a very mean 4th grade art teacher I spent many years being afraid of paint and color. It took a long time for me to embrace and love my inner painter as much as I had embraced and loved my other inner artists. I have been experimenting with many materials and techniques since.
I love my series of paper collage on wood, canvas and paper. I use acrylic and pastel paint, which I protect with resin and/or acrylic varnish.
My collages and paintings are an explosion of color and feelings. Of course, my personal history and my culture influence both my style and concepts. Many things happen in my paintings, there are always messages to decode, stories to tell. I started my collages with lots of paper and with little paint. But as time went by, I felt the need to add more an more paint and more layers to my work. I sometimes, analogically “photoshop” some of images. By this I mean that I alter stuff that I cut here and there and I change it until I make it mine.
